Zendaya has always been a red carpet showstopper, so it’s only right that the 20-year-old actress/singer would be turning to the fashion world for her next major project.
The Disney star is releasing a new clothing line ‘Daya by Zendaya,’ which will be available on commerce platforms starting Friday, Nov. 4.
The line was developed with her personal stylist Law Roach, who helped her design and create the clothing.
The collection consists of designs that fit Zendaya’s personal style, ranging from street-style favorites such as silk slip dresses and bomber jackets to more of a masculine feel with baggy trousers and blazer jackets. Of course in Zendaya fashion, it’s all about making this line unconventional by staying away from the trends of the industry to make new statements in the fashion world.
“One thing Law and I really hate are trends,” Zendaya told Vogue. “We just don’t believe in them, we don’t believe in what’s hot now because you can’t stay on top of all of the constant changes in fashion. It’s just impossible.”
She caters to a broad audience by making the line affordable with clothing starting at $18 and going up to $158. The collection’s sizes range from 0-22 and include everyday fashion faves like casual tanks, white button-downs and statement pieces such as a green velvet jumpsuit.
As Zendaya makes her way into the mainstream fashion industry, she keeps in mind her red carpet motto, one that has made her the fashion icon she is today: Be anything but ordinary and take risks.
“I went through a phase as a teenager, and I think everyone does, when I actually gave a shit about what people thought”, she said. Ultimately I grew up and realized that was no fun.”
