Early Wednesday The New York Times revealed that Zayn Malik will partner with Donatella Versace to create an exclusive capsule collection. The collection, Zayn x Versus, will be available online and in Versus stores worldwide in May.
With Versus being without a creative director since April, Versus does not have an official designer to guide the brand forward. However the partnership with the “Pillow Talk” singer seems to be perfect as Malik’s overall style and attitude fits perfectly with the brand. This also will certainly be a major branding strategy to reach different audiences through the popularity of the global superstar.
“I wanted Zayn because he can help me talk to his followers,” said Donatella Versace told the Times.”I want to listen to their language. I want to learn more about them, what they think and what they like. They are a new generation that without working with someone like Zayn, I will never reach.”
This is not Malik’s first soiree in the fashion industry. As of late, he has been taking on the fashion scene with supermodel girlfriend Gigi Hadid, definitely making his presence known within the industry.
He is also hot off of a collab with Italian show designer Giuseppe Zanotti, available for release next year.
I guess we can add global fashion designer to his resume — along with being a teen heartthrob, of course.
