Victoria Beckham may take the cake as the most multi-hyphenated designer to date. With her AW16 runway collection receiving positive reviews, the 41-year-old is conquering the beauty avenue, this time with Estée Lauder.
Beckham will be selling her cosmetics line in her clothing stores, on Estée Lauder’s website, at Bergdorf Goodman and at Selfridges, starting in September.
The beauty giant’s group president, Jane Hertzmark Hudis, said, “We are excited to join forces and bring Victoria’s take on beauty to her many fans around the world.”
Estée Lauder has already sponsored the makeup for Victoria’s runway shows.
Just like Estée Lauder, “Victoria is an entrepreneur in the true spirit of our founder,” said Hertzmark Hudis.
And don’t think that Victoria is just letting Estée Lauder borrow her name. The former Spice Girls member even told the Daily Mail that she looked back into the brand’s archives to see if this was the right partnership for her.
Victoria told WWD, “I was very specific about what I wanted. It was about the must-have items that I felt everybody should have in their makeup bag, things that are really quite difficult to find because I know, I’ve searched.”
For a signature nude lip, just like Victoria’s, the collection will include a lip pencil ($30) to perfect that pout.
Want a smokey eye like Victoria’s? The Eye Metals Eyeshadow ($45) will be the perfect addition to your make-up bag.
While color is important in the collection, it should also flatter every skin tone, as Victoria points out.
“If I do color, I really want to do color. If I want to do blue, let’s make it really electric, strong and different — the same with the green and the sunset orange,” said Victoria. “It’s all very strong, but also flattering on (a variety of) skin tones, nothing middle of the road.”
Despite getting a slow start with her own clothing label, Victoria went on to make twice as much as her soccer-playing husband, David Beckham.
“For a long time there, I was a bit of a laughing stock. And while everybody was busy laughing, what was I doing? I was laying the foundation to what I have in place now,” Victoria told The Business of Fashion magazine.
Now, Victoria’s clothing label is in over 500 countries. The Victoria Beckham Estée Lauder line will be in stores, beginning Sept 13.
