Tory Burch has won her trademark infringement lawsuit against Lin & J International Inc., proving that the company stole her designs.
The judgement was announced on Friday, and as part of the ruling Burch was awarded $41.2 million.
WWD reports that the legal issues between Tory Burch and Lin & J International Inc. started two years ago. The company tried to countersue Burch for unfair trade practices, defamation, trademark infringement and more, but they were unsuccessful.
The $41.2 million payout includes $38.9 million in damages and the rest in legal fees.
A representative for Burch first discovered that Lin & J were making knock-offs of Burch’s popular designs during a visit to the company’s showroom, and was told a minimum order would cost $350.
