Dolce & Gabbana put on their Fall/Winter 2016/2017 runway show on Feb. 28 in Italy for the semiannual Milan Fashion Week. The designs were nothing short of a fairytale.

Models strutted down the runway in designs that could only be created through pure fashion geniuses: Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana. The combination of mixed patterns and details made the Dolce & Gabbana collection unique. The designs were fun, fresh and darling all at the same time.

The overall vibe of the fashion show was sweet with a tough side, girly with an edge. Dolce & Gabbana made plenty of obvious references to Disney princesses throughout the runway show. The most prominent of them all was undoubtedly the Cinderella carriage in the background of the runway.

“The new generation of princesses are not only independent, but they possess a keen perspective and point of view. They are individuals first and foremost,” said Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana according to Editorial List.

The collection’s color scheme consisted mainly of black and white designs with pops of color thrown in. Floral patterns, lace, sparkles, fringe and other embellishments were displayed on the clothes. All of the models wore extravagant headpieces (Because what’s a princess without a crown?) and flirt fun heels.

“Today, everything is possible for the young generation!” Gabbanna told Vogue, “Fashion makes people dream—this is the service fashion gives.”
