In a great bit of irony, the 2006 film The Devil Wears Prada carries none of the unusual elements of the Prada brand and instead goes for a glossy glamour that’s heavy on driving gloves, stilettos and furs. The film is a fun and fabulous fantasy of the fashion industry that centers on fresh college graduate Andy Sachs (Anne Hathaway) who starts working as an assistant for the Anna Wintour-inspired Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep), the Editor-in-Chief of fashion magazine Runway. David Frankel, who’s directed several Sex and the City episodes, creates a movie that’s part Sex and the City and part Cinderella story. Like Carrie Bradshaw, The Devil Wears Prada has shoe game for days and the shoes summon spirits from the past.
