Swiss watchmaker Tag Heuer releases its first smartwatch

Swiss watch company, Tag Heuer has released its first round of smartwatches. One thousand units became available in 15 stores across the United States on Monday, Nov. 9 with more to follow in the coming days.

Tag Heuer is known for handcrafting beautiful and highly functioning watches in a timeless design. Their latest collaboration with U.S. technology giants Google and Intel, the “Tag Heuer Connected” smartwatch will be the first of its kind to hit markets.

According to Reuters, the watch will continue to have a classic Swiss watch design, but will incorporate such technology as voice commands, connect to the internet, stream music and sync with other Google and Android apps.

The watch retails for $1,500 and Tag Heuer Chief Executive Jean-Claude Biver indicates that this is only the beginning. “Our collaboration provides a rich host of synergies, forming a win-win partnership, and the potential for our three companies is enormous.”
