Garage appoints new editor-in-chief

In the wake of its acquisition by Vice Media, magazine Garage has appointed a new Editor-in-Chief, Thessaly La Force.

La Force will succeed Garage founder and former EIC Dasha Zhukova, as the new editor-in-chief. Zhukova will serve as the magazine’s editorial director, according to Business of Fashion.

La Force, known for her contributions to The New York Times and the New Republic, was welcomed with full confidence to the team by Zhukova.

“Thessaly has an impressive editorial background that brings together art, fashion and design. She has the ability to intelligently communicate cultural trends to a mass audience,” Zhukova said.

“I’m thrilled to be here as Garage turns a new page with Vice. It’ll be very exciting to see what we can do next, and how we can make a magazine in this digital space where fashion, art and design intersect.”-Thessaly La Force

Although the acquisition of Garage by Vice Media will move the magazine’s editorial hub to New York as it works towards a digital format, it’s fashion side will continue to be based in London.

Since its inception in 2011, Garage has released biennial print issues that seek to show the intersection of art and fashion. Garage has included such designers as Marc Jacobs, Patrick Demarchelier and Jeff Koons.
