The Pitti Immagine Discovery Foundation, belonging to the organization responsible for each of the Pitti fashion event in Florence is preparing to unveil an “Ephemeral Museum of Fashion”.
The Ephemeral Museum of Fashion is an exhibition set to present catered pieces from the past two centuries, part of the Costume and Fashion Gallery of the city.
Olivier Saillard, director of the Musée Galliera in Paris will serve as curator of the exhibition part of a cultural program developed by the Florentine Center for Italian Fashion and Gallerie degli Uffizi during a three year span.
The temporary ‘museum’ will open at Florence’s Palazzo Pitti during the 92nd edition of Pitti Uomo, a fashion set of events dedicated to menswear trade happening from June 13 to 16 this year.
The development of this important display of design is in good hands since Saillard is responsible of the successful “Balenciaga: Working in Black” exhibition at the Musée Bourdelle in Paris. Saillard sees ‘the Ephemeral Museum’ as “an opportunity to reinvent Palazzo Pitti’s Galleria del Costume e della Moda,” and the Italian Ministry of Economic Development and ICE, the Italian trade agency, both think the same, fully supporting the event to be opened until October 22.
