You better get your nimble fingers ready to shop the ColourPop x Hello Kitty products out Nov. 1, because once they’re gone, they’re gone.
At least that’s what Women’s Wear Daily is saying. Jill Koch said, “We are really strategic about categories we target and when those collaborations are launching.”
As the senior vice president of brand management and marketing for Sanrio, Koch told WWD, “We never want to have too many on top of each other. We try to sprinkle them into the market and not do everything at once, and we want to give each collaboration its time to shine.”
ColourPop Cosmetics has always launched products with influencers and celebrities but never a collaboration with another well-known brand, like Sanrio, so it’s only fitting that the products are released on Nov. 1.
For Hello Kitty enthusiasts, they know that that date falls on the beloved character’s birthday. The Japanese character with a penchant for bows doesn’t age, by the way.
The holiday collection consists of four eye shadow hues, three lipgloss colors, two satin lipstick choices, metallic lip shades, blush, highlighters and a full-faced kit.
One factor in working with ColourPop is its online-only formula. With that in mind, the products are able to move quicker to the consumer’s hands.
“Everyone at our office is always talking about the latest and greatest in products and colors,” Koch said. “There are a lot of internal conversations going on all the time about beauty, and we thought, ‘Let’s reach to them and see if they are interested.’”
The deal extended far beyond extreme glitters that don’t stay put, but it’s very Hello Kitty. From “Rainbow” to “Friendship File” to “Surprise,” beauty lovers will have their stockings stuffed this year.
Sanrio even held a ColourPop x Hello Kitty Lippie Bar at the Irvine Spectrum Center to showcase the products at the Hello Kitty Cafe on Friday, Oct. 21.
The collection will only be sold on ColourPop’s website, with prices ranging from $5 to $42.
