Everywhere you look it seems like new beauty trends are popping up, but you may not have heard of this one. Beauty vloggers are claiming to have found the secret to growing fuller eyebrows and it’s onions. That’s right, beauty gurus are rubbing onions on their eyebrows.
With thick eyebrows being in, many who previously plucked their arches to death are desperate for a way to join in on the trend. Some people try vitamins, products and eating certain foods to spike hair growth.
World-renowned beauty bloggers Huda Kattan and Farah Dhukai recently disclosed the key to thick eyebrows in a new tutorial, as reported on Teen Vogue.
In the tutorial, Dhukai chopped up an onion and rubbed the pieces along her brows. She explained, “Onion juice has sulphur which speeds up the growth of hair and makes it thicker.”
There is no proof to support her statement.
According to Allure, cosmetic chemist Randy Schueller said, “I’ve never seen any evidence that topically applied sulfur can enhance hair growth. If that were true, everyone would be selling sulfur solutions for hair growth.”
Dermatologist Kavita Mariwalla warned, “I don’t want people to think that putting onion juice on every day is going to suddenly give them luscious, thick brows.”
Experts are urging followers of this new trend to be careful putting onion juice near their eyes because even just the enzymes in the air can lead to burning, tearing and irritation.
