Australian Fashion Chamber turns one

The Australian Fashion Chamber celebrated its first birthday on Monday night and over two hundred people arrived to take part in the birthday festivities. The event took place on the rooftop of the AMP Building above Sydney’s Circular Quay.

WWD reported that the event overlooked the Universal Everything’s light show, which illuminated the sails of the Sydney Opera House. All of these events coincided with the Vivid Sydney 2015 light and music festival.

The fashion chamber currently has 42 members including Vogue Australia editor-in-chief and AFC chair Edwina McCann and her deputy chair and editor-in-chief of Harpers Bazaar Australia, Kellie Hush. Other members of the fashion coalition include some big names in the industry: Dion Lee, Christopher Esber, Camilla and Marc Freeman, Bianca Spender, Rachel and Alex Sims and Beth and Tessa Macgraw.

The group was formed back in 2014 and wanted to bring awareness to the growing fashion industry that is centered in Australia. The country currently has a $8.6 billion fashion retail sector.
