When I was learning how to swim, I used to imagine I was one of the Baywatch beauties in their iconic red swimsuits.
I was 7 years old, OK? And back then, the heightened drama of running in slow motion was of the utmost importance in the world of make believe (e.g. Buffy).
I digress, as my mother never bought me a red swimsuit growing up, probably for a good reason, as Pamela Anderson wasn’t exactly role model material.
Yet, at the center of it all was the red one-piece that remains a classic choice for swimmers to this day.
With the Baywatch film, set to come out next month, we decided to shop for a few red one-pieces swimsuits just in time for summer.
From strappy cutouts to high slits, memorable in the nineties, everything is far from basic when you’re wearing red. Just don’t ask us to jump off a burning boat to save lives. We’ll leave that to David Hasselhoff.
