It’s that time of the year again when every relevant celebrity pops in for an appearance at the Met Gala.
This year’s theme honors “Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons,” as “Rei Kawakubo is one of the most important and influential designers of the past forty years,” says Andrew Bolton, the curator for the Costume Institute.
From models to Met Gala regulars, the event, which took place on Monday, May 1, paved way for celebs to take into account the avant garde theme.
While we had those who adhered to safe choices (e.g. Gisele Bündchen), there were clearly those who took it to the extreme.
Floral appliqués appeared on gowns, like Selena Gomez’s clean-cut gown, and Lily-Rose Depp’s choice of fuschia stood out for its simplicity.
Designs from Chanel and Carolina Herrera made it on the list, and at times clashing prints and hues just simply worked at the Met Gala 2017.
